Haley learns to wear makeup

Haley has always loved my teacher friend Laurin.  I have to admit I am so pleased she choose her as one of her role models.  Laurin is absolutely beautiful on the inside and out.  She is so super sweet.  We joke at school that she is to pretty to be that sweet because it makes it hard not to like her.   She is one of the most genuine people I have ever met.  I have never heard her say an ugly thing about anyone or anything for that matter.  Laurin just had a baby girl in November.  When she was talking about teaching Haley how to wear makeup she mentioned I could keep Livia while they shopped for makeup and had the lesson.  Of course me loving babies I was thrilled.

A fun memory:
Last night we picked Hunter up from practice and headed to Mezcal before church.  As we finished talking about our "Ups & Downs" for the day Haley said "momma I am SO excited about tomorrow!"  Me having a horrible memory I said "why?"  Haley looked at me with the biggest excited eyes and said "I get to go shopping with a fashionista!  Mrs. Laurin knows everything about fashion."  I didn't want to embarrass her by laughing so I grinned and said "that is exciting."  I think she thought it hurt my feelings(which it totally didn't) because she says "oh but momma you know everything about getting me ready for PE days and sports."  I couldn't hold the laughter in any longer.  I'm so thankful to have a friend that is willing to treat my baby girl so special and for a beautiful baby girl that knows & understands her mom is "girly challenged".

HaPpY NeW YeAr 2012!!!!

Several years ago we went skiing in Gatlinburg with the Huber's  we didn't realize it then but we started a new tradition of spending New Year's Eve with them.   With football and basketball being so busy we don't get to see them very much from August - December.  It was so nice to just relax, eat and hang out with good friends.

Will decided to take the Polar Bear Plunge!  He came inside and said "Mrs Ziggy do you have your camera?"  I know that's a silly question!  I went outside and he jumped in the pool.  I put my toe in and about froze.  I don't know how he did it.  He quickly took a hot shower and put on a sweatshirt then was back outside playing.

 A great time was had by all!


New Year's Day started with a wonderful worship service.

After church we enjoyed our normal Sunday meal at Mezcal.  Then we headed out to do a little batting practice.  Well Hunter & Rob did batting practice while Haley & I pitched & hit the volleyball.  It was a beautiful day and I can't think of any better way to start the new year then with the people I love doing things we enjoy doing.

2011 TOP TEN 

10 things I am thankful for while looking back on 2011.

10 - Trials, well not actually the trials, but the real life lessons that came from the trials and taught my
family about telling the truth, dedication, determination, honesty, loyalty and friendship.  Life lessons aren't always easy when you are going through them but they are part of life.  How we handle and react to them builds our character. 

9 - We made it an entire year without having to go to a funeral.  That may sound weird but from 2008-2010 we attended funerals for many loved ones (at least 6).  So I am very thankful for a year with no losses.

8 - New friendships we have made this year. 

7 - Robbie & I celebrated our 17th wedding anniversary.  I am thankful God gave me Robbie.  He is my best friend.

6 - Hannah Grace started walking with her walker.

5 - Hunter earned MVP on his football team.

4 - Haley worked very hard and made Honor Roll several times.

3 - Family vacation to Gulf Shores.  We had so much fun just being with each other and being lazy.

2 - Hunter became a christian.  I am so thankful that God blessed me with my children.  I am more proud of Hunter's decision to become a christian than I could ever be of any sports or school accomplishment.  It fills my heart with joy to know he realizes God has a plan for him and that God comes first.

1 - My Family.  God blessed me with an amazing family!!  I get to see my parents, nieces, nephews & siblings every week.  I am so thankful my family is so close, happy, and healthy!

Week Off (Ha!)

This week Robbie was off work, I was off work and the kids were out of school.  We had big plans of doing nothing!  Ha! Us do nothing yeah RIGHT!!

We knew Hunter was playing in the Blue Streak Basketball tournament which is played at various churches around the city.  We've never played in a basketball tournament before and weren't sure how the schedule would be.    Well turns out it is one game a day which didn't sound bad but ended up consuming our week and we enjoyed every minute of it.  We would stay up late, sleep in, eat a late breakfast, take Hunter to shoot around at AMS, then head to his game.  They played very well.  They finished 3rd out of
12 teams.

We were pleasantly surprised when some of our good friends showed up to watch Hunter play.  After the game we watched Hunter's friend Evan play in the championship then went to the Huber's for dinner.  After dinner I took the kids to Yogurt Mountain for dessert.

We celebrated my dad's(aka Drandad) 58th birthday with his favorite meal....steak!  We met at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

Izzie was scared of the armadillo and this is how she stayed until he was completely out of site.  She looked and saw the top of his hat and jumped back in Haley's lap. 

At Texas Roadhouse you have to sit on a saddle on your birthday while they announce you to the crowd.  The boys wanted to make sure this happened to drandad so they told the waitress every time she went to their table.

Hannah Grace ate potatoes and had fun rubbing them in her hair while she was feeding herself.

I am so thankful for the wonderful Christmas we had.  We spent time with family and friends and had a blast.  I love my family and the closeness we share.  I thank God for them everyday!
